National Night Out 2026

Sumter County ARES will again participate in the National Night Out event on October 2nd, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM ET. Organized locally by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

Sumter County ARES will use this opportunity to promote the advancement of amateur radio, and to acquaint the public and local officials with the capabilities of amateur radio for emergency communications. ​We encourage everyone to attend this important community event.

The Sumter County ARES Emergency Communications Trailer will be on hand to provide a Get-On-The-Air station (GOTA) to anyone who would like to experience amateur radio, even if for the first time.
